About GMC
We believe great coaches are made, not just trained.
Guiding Mindful Change was founded to fill the gap between certification and real-world readiness.
Our Story
Founded by a coach who saw what was missing.
Billie Frances discovered coaching in 1996, alongside separate roles as a therapist and spiritual counselor. In 2000, she felt the pull to teach the coaching method that had grown out of her own studies and experience — and the Mindful Coach Certification was born.
Hundreds of coaches later, Billie recognized a consistent pattern: coaches left training with theoretical knowledge but lacked the practical confidence, real-time feedback, and continued support they needed to thrive. GMC was created to close that gap. Billie is also the author of Awareness Is Enough: Reflections on Being a Coach (2023), which explores presence as the foundation of meaningful coaching.

What we believe
Coaching is a practice, not a credential.
Certification is the beginning. Becoming a masterful coach takes continued learning, feedback, and real-world experience.
Feedback transforms coaches.
The fastest way to improve is to have someone skilled listen to your work and help you see what you can't see on your own.
The person of the coach matters.
Self-awareness, presence, and reflective practice are not optional extras — they are central to effective coaching.
Coaches need community.
Growth happens in relationship with others who understand the work, share the challenges, and push each other to be better.
